In The 2024 Demonstrations Against Hunger, a sensitive aspect of protest handling was touched by one alleged senator.

Ahmed Abdulhamid Malam-Madori, who serves as Senator for Jigawa North-East Senatorial District and heads the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, has urged Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun and Nigerian police officers to maintain their standards of civility and professionalism amidst the violent protests happening throughout Nigeria.

Praising the police chief and his team for their professionalism, civility, and restraint during the recent protests in line with contemporary policing standards, Senator Malam-Madori released a statement on Monday in Abuja.

I would like to express my appreciation for the Inspector General of Police and his officers’ professional conduct in managing the nationwide #EndBadGovernance demonstrations.

The lawmaker commented that the professionals’ dedication to upholding their professionalism despite potential protest-related threats is praiseworthy and indicates a steadfast commitment towards safeguarding Nigerians’ welfare and preserving their basic human rights.

Senator Malam-Madori stressed the importance of upholding ethical civil engagement by the police during ongoing protests.
